ESC Long-Term Volunteering Projects in Armenia
Pediatric Republican Rehabilitation Center
The volunteer will provide children with exposure to different cultures and teach tolerance, aiding their future societal integration. They will organize interactive lessons on subjects like geography and ecology, engaging children aged 4 to 15 in leisure activities, sports, painting and sculpting workshops, and teaching songs and dances. Additionally, the volunteer will assist with homework, promote children's creative abilities through workshops, and gain insights into the perspectives of disadvantaged children.
"Arabkir" Medical Center
The project focuses on working with children at "Arabkir" Medical Center, where the volunteer will actively participate and propose ideas. They will engage in discussions and seminars about future programs for the children, contributing their opinions. The volunteer will assist the center's staff in organizing workshops for children to engage in activities like drawing, sculpting, singing, and dancing. Responsibilities include supporting arts workshops, organizing foreign language classes, presenting their culture, and facilitating events such as dancing and singing evenings.
"Muratsan" Hospital Complex
The project aims to support hospital staff and engage with children undergoing treatment, organizing charitable and recreational activities. Tasks will include visiting children for games and activities, promoting foundation activities internationally through articles, and coordinating charitable events like games and concerts where gifts are shared. The volunteer will gain administrative skills by planning and organizing these events, creating entertainment programs and arts competitions, and establishing game rooms and game hours for children in hospitals.
"Zatik" Child Support Center
The international volunteer will expose children to different cultures, promote tolerance, and facilitate their integration into society. They will organize interactive lessons on subjects like geography and ecology, engage children aged 4 to 15 in leisure activities, sports, painting, sculpting workshops, and teach songs and dances. The volunteer will also assist with homework, promote creative abilities through workshops, attend staff seminars on working with disabled children, and support parents by organizing discussion meetings.
N14 School for Children with visual impairment issues
The volunteer will work at a school near Yerevan's city center, participating in all programs and proposing ideas. The volunteer will organize arts workshops, support staff, and foster social connections with children and parents through activities like cultural events, excursions, and sports competitions. Supported by the organization, the volunteer will receive basic Armenian language training and actively contribute to event planning and activities, gaining valuable experience in working with children and improving language skills.
Dzer Gitak Kindergarten
Volunteers will participate in all programs and contribute their ideas, working closely with children and staff to integrate into local culture and gain insights into Armenian society. The project emphasizes the development of skills in non-formal and informal education, enhancing intercultural competencies and fostering positive interactions across diverse languages, values, and cultural frameworks.
HUJ Office
Volunteers at HUJ will promote volunteering and support various activities by participating in conferences, meetings, and training sessions. They will prepare and distribute informational materials, present at educational institutions and events, lead workshops on topics like group dynamics and conflict resolution, and create content for HUJ's Facebook page and website. Additionally, they may create short films or presentations, assist in training camp leaders and local volunteers, support workcamp activities, and potentially co-animate international workcamps.
Diaconia Charitable Fund
Volunteers will work with children from socially vulnerable families in the Huysi Avan district, organizing cultural development programs such as singing, dancing, painting, and games. They will assist in renovating the Development Center, help with district cleaning, and participate in Foundation activities like distributing food, school supplies, and clothing, and engaging in agricultural projects. Volunteers will prepare food packages, visit families to assess needs and document their situations, organize recreational activities for children with disabilities, participate in summer camps, and teach their national songs and dances, culminating in a final event display.
History Museum of Armenia
Volunteers at the History Museum of Armenia will assist in the Department of Mass Media and Public Relations, and the Department of Excursions and Education Programs. They will collect visitor feedback, help organize events, greet and direct visitors, provide information about museum programs and exhibitions, and assist in curriculum-based art and history workshops for children. Additionally, they will help coordinate volunteer work, write projects, and conduct interviews. Throughout their service, volunteers will learn about Armenian history, culture, heritage, and art, gaining experience in museology and teaching.
National Gallery of Armenia
Volunteers at the National Gallery of Armenia (NGA) will assist various departments, including the excursion, education, marketing, and public relations departments. They will help organize guided tours, prepare presentations, and support summer programs for children. Additionally, they will participate in promotional events, contribute ideas, prepare materials for the website and social media, moderate social media pages, and update the database. Volunteers will also engage in gallery events such as International Museum Day, Museum's Night, and educational programs.
Botanical Garden
Volunteers at the National Botanical Garden of Yerevan will assist with various environmental maintenance projects, including garden upkeep, path clearing, weeding, tree cultivation, seedling collection, and territory cleanliness. They will also help with irrigation tasks and support workshops and activities organized by the garden's staff. Additionally, volunteers will engage with visitors, especially children and their parents, to promote environmental learning through conversations and games. They will also create articles about the Botanical Garden for websites.
WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature)
The volunteer will work on a rotational basis with WWF-Armenia and its partner organizations, including Arpa Protected in the Vayots Dzor region and the Khosrov Forest State Reserve. They will spend the first 1-2 months at the WWF-Armenia office to become familiar with ongoing projects, receive training on fieldwork, and learn to use relevant equipment and software. Following this, the volunteer will assist staff at each partner organization with daily tasks, focusing on wildlife data coordination and analysis.
