National Gallery of Armenia
The volunteer will assist in the different departments of the National Gallery of Armenia (NGA). The volunteer will support the excursion department of the National Gallery of Armenia (NGA), engaging in both entertaining and educational tasks, including learning about Armenian art and museology, and assisting in organizing guided tours. They will also help with interactive summer school programs for children aged 6-14, including workshops and film viewings. Additionally, the volunteer will contribute to promotional activities and marketing efforts, participate in brainstorming sessions, and assist in public relations tasks such as preparing materials and managing social media. They will be involved in various gallery events, including International Museum Day and Museum Night.
About The Project
Background
Founded in 1921, the National Gallery of Armenia is the country’s premier art institution, housing about 40,000 artworks, though only 10% are on display. Its 56 halls showcase a wide range of art from ancient to modern times, featuring works by renowned artists like Aivazovsky, Sarian, Kandinsky, and Donatello. The Gallery’s mission includes promoting and preserving both Armenian and global art, producing scientific publications, and hosting exhibitions and conferences. Since 2016, it also serves as an educational center, offering interactive summer programs for children aged 6-14, where they explore the gallery's collection and engage in creative activities.
Volunteer Tasks
·Assist with both entertaining and educational activities in the Excursion Department, learn about Armenian painters and the history of art, and gain insights into museology. Support guides in organizing tours and present a comparative analysis of Armenian and native painters' works.
·Contribute to summer school programs for children aged 6-14 at the National Gallery’s educational center. Engage in thematic, interactive activities like film and cartoon viewings, workshops, and more.
·Get involved in promotional events and marketing activities. Attend meetings, brainstorming sessions, and contribute ideas to enhance the Gallery's outreach efforts.
·Help prepare materials and articles for the website and social media, moderate social media pages, refresh the database, and support the Public Relations team.
·Participate in various Gallery events, including International Museum Day, Museum Night, and different educational programs.
Volunteer Requirements
The volunteer should have a strong interest in art, art history, general history, museology, and public relations. They should be responsible, communicative, and creative, with a proven ability to work well in a team. A passion for learning new skills is also essential. Proficiency in English is important for effective communication.
