Republican Pediatric Rehabilitation Center
The presence of an international volunteer at the Republican Rehabilitation Center offers children the chance to explore diverse cultures and societies, fostering tolerance and aiding their future integration into society. The volunteer will organize various interactive lessons on subjects such as geography and ecology. Their role will involve engaging in all activities with children aged 4 to 15.
About The Project
Background
The Republican Rehabilitation Center, established in Yerevan in 1989 after the earthquake, began operations in 1991. Initially funded by a five-year project with Armenia's Ministry of Health and supported by the German organization ADRA, the Center focuses on rehabilitating children with chronic skeletal and neuromuscular conditions. The facility provides both inpatient and outpatient care to around 800 patients annually and oversees 3,000 children in total. With a staff of about 100, including 30 directly working with children, the Center aims to advance rehabilitation medicine in Armenia, fostering physical and mental development, independence, and social integration. The Integration Kindergarten, opened in 2002, is a key part of this effort.
