Each year, HUJ sends Armenian volunteers of all ages to countries such as Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Austria, and more. These dedicated individuals contribute to addressing critical issues in the cultural, environmental, and educational sectors making a significant global impact.
AUSTRIA

Description

This proposal results from the collaboration with the "Ali del Vento" association, which operates in the field of horseback riding both with lessons inside and with rides.
​
The recovered well-being of these horses constitutes a wonderful combination with the happiness of children, disabled and non-disabled, who can enjoy the relationship with these beautiful animals. Among the goals is also the development of affordable horseback riding for everyone (including adults): horseback riding can be a sport within everyone's reach and not a luxury.
The activities will take place at the riding stables run by the “Ali del vento” Association in Cona (Ferrara) and will consist of collaboration in cleaning the stables and horses present at the stables, collaboration in horse care and general maintenance of the stables.
At Casa IBO in via Boschetto 1 - Ferrara about 8 km away. There are 2 dormitories with bunk beds, shared bathrooms, and a kitchen for independent meal preparation.
The project is well connected. In your free time, visits to Ferrara, Bologna and even Venice can be organized.

Volunteers will work in the public park Augarten (2nd district) around six hours per day from 09:00 - 15:00 (30 minutes lunch break included). Volunteers will mostly work with the Vienna gardeners in the green areas of this famous public park called Augarten.
Participants will as well do some cleaning, renovation and painting work of the facilities, walls and benches. Volunteers will sleep all together (all genders mixed) in one big room.
Participants will cook with the group in a team!
After work, there will be free time to visit Vienna.
Moreover, participants will have weekends off that can be used to travel inside Austria, but we will also offer different activities to get to know the area. If the weather is fine, they might go swimming with the group as well.
Volunteers will be able to swim in the Danube river, visit museums, karaoke, Prater (fun fair). During the weekends, they can visit Salzburg, Hallstatt, Bratislava, Prague, Graz, Linz, Budapest, etc.

This project is based on a dynamic meeting between the volunteers and the residents of the center. With the help of a technical animator, the volunteers and the residents will carry out work together to improve the quality of life and the well-being of the residents: painting some rooms and corridors, building benches and tables, creation of 2 games storage boxes and proposing leisure activities and workshops to the residents and specially youngsters and kids: sports, crafts, games, treasure hunt, film projection, debate…
Location: Sugny is a very small and isolated village in the south of Belgium nearby the French border. By choosing this workcamp, you decide to live in nature. There are plenty of opportunities for entertainment: football fields, basketball

Accommodation will be provided in the centre.
Volunteers will stay in a common room (mixed dormitory) in a building next to the central building and/or in rooms unoccupied by residents (generally rooms for 4 people) depending on the reception capacity of the center at that time. Showers and toilets are accessible in the central building.

Its pedestrian center, its medieval monuments, its university spirit, its effervescent cultural life and the safety of its streets make it a perfect place to carry out activities with young people.
This camp is divided into two parts:

Part 1: Study and knowledge of the legends and tales of the city of Huesca during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. We will make this work by visiting archives, museums, and historical buildings in which the events took place.
​
Part 2: Creation, design and implementation of dramatized street theater plays.
Volunteers will write scripts, design props, choose costumes.Everyone will have a role in the play. We will rehearse the show to be presented to the audience.
​
Accommodation will be held in shared rooms with beds at the Students Residence “Santo Domingo” in Huesca which is in the central district. The residence has common areas and a dining room with TV. The residence also offers free Wi-Fi access.

You will actively help with the care of young tree crops, i.e. you will cut trees so that other trees have light and space to grow and you will renovate a forest hut. You will also nail fences to protect forest crops and help with various jobs in the community.

There are 2 rooms for sleeping (either with cots or gym mats), a kitchen, sanitary facilities, a gymnastics room as another room.
You will cook your own meals together. You will plan your own meals, go shopping for ingredients, cook and clean after yourselves. Each day there will be 2 people in the Kitchen Team, who will take care of meals instead of participating in the project task. Money for the food shopping is provided to you.

Project: Comic Design
​
Volunteers will learn to draw their own comics under the guidance of an artist and thus express their perspective.
​
Besides the manual work the study component will be an important part of our project. Participants will learn a lot about the time of National Socialism, ( i.e. the Nazis) - persecution extermination, and forced labour -as well as about postwar Germany, especially about the Soviet Special Camp which operated at Sachsenhausen until1 950.
​
Volunteers will have the opportunity to explore the depot and the archive of the memorial site.
​
All participants should have a very good knowledge of English and should be interested in history and the present problems of neo-fascism and racism.

Description

Teenage volunteers will be taking part in the enhancement of local heritage around the castle and abbey. Working with an archaeologist, they will be clearing the ground, clearing undergrowth and consolidating, then carrying out careful excavation work on these two areas that bear witness to previous centuries.
The summer will be punctuated by local events where participants will be invited to take part in festivities such as the "Saint-Amand fait son int Eressant" performing arts festival, night markets, village festivals, etc.

Individual tents or tents for two will be provided, as well as sleeping mats. A covered dining area is reserved, with a kitchen where they can take turns preparing tasty dishes.

During your stay, young volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in local festivities and cultural events, to discover the region.
Description
Volunteers will have the opportunity to discover, with a professional technical supervisor, the basics of traditional lime masonry and stone cutting. They will participate in works on different spaces of the Convent.
First, it will be necessary to repair the small staircase that descends towards the convent garden, as well as the adjoining wall. It is very damaged and must be rebuilt with stones and lime. Then, several small masonry works are necessary around the river, still inhabited today.

Joinville is a city full of history and heritage: there is a medieval castle, a large Renaissance castle and many remarkable buildings in the center of the town. It is because they are aware of this rich heritage that the inhabitants of Joinville invest every year to restore it. They will be delighted to introduce you to all the heritage treasures of the region
About thirty kilometers away: the Lac du Der, a very large body of water renowned for its swimming and water sports activities.The nearest large town is also about thirty kilometers away: it is Saint-Dizier. You will have a minibus to get around in the evening or on weekends, but the local volunteers will also be very happy to offer you visits and festive events around Joinville.
